Rock 'n' Roll
With thanks to the many classic Rock 'n' Roll bands, musicians, artists and songs we have today the chance to preserve a part of history that brought joy, happiness and life to the lives of many teenagers and adults. Growing up in the 50s and 60s in Australia saw a rise in affluence. In the 50s Australia enjoyed the most even income distribution of any western industrialized nation. The 60s saw Australia turn from a predominately primary industry to manufacturing. According to upfromaustralia.com CLICK HERE "Australia had started to become a “mini America” with a multicultural society."

On the 1st September 2012 we attended the St Mary's Spring Festival with the Vintage FM and Today Show crew. The weather could not have been any better. A beautiful, hot and sunny Spring day.
We had a awesome day hanging around the place and demonstrating social dancing of both Rock n Roll and Lindy Hop. We even got to have a dance with Elvis himself.

Time to show us your bowling skills or at least come and learn how to play bowls, so that you can discover a love for something else! I think one of the best things about lawn bowls is that you get back in touch with nature and are able to be in an outdoor environment soaking up some good ol' sunshine and Vitamin D!
Here is something to help you increase your knowledge of Lawn Bowls before you attend! Lawn Bowls is a sport in which the objective is to roll biased balls so that they stop close to a smaller ball called a "jack" or "kitty". It is played on a pitch which may be flat (for "flat-green bowls") or convex or uneven (for "crown-green bowls"). It is normally played outdoors although there are some indoor venues and the surface is either natural grass, artificial turf, or cotula.

Oh what a night! The only disappointment was that the night had to come to an end.
On Saturday, 28th July 2012 the Hornesywood Hall at Penrith RSL (where we hold our Rock n Roll dance classes on Monday night) was filled to capacity with many Moovers N Groovers. The night began with guests being ushered to their tables, followed up by a three course meal served by Maze Catering at Penrith RSL. During the first course a team of Moove N Groove Dancers entertained the crowd with a Lindy Hop performance with an intermission of the leaders dancing whilst the followers were secretly changing and then the big finale with the whole team dancing up a storm to Shake Rattle n Roll.

We had a great day out at Castle Hill RSL for the Rattle n Hum car show with our students dancing to music provided by Pinky and showing the patrons how much fun Rock n Roll dancing is and how easy it is. Rock n Roll dancing is enjoyed by people of all ages young and old with plenty of bands still around playing 50’s music in local clubs and pubs.
Sincere thanks to all our Moove 'n' Groove members that came out to support the day with lots of great social dancing, handing out flyers, making friends with others and just supporting such a great cause with funds raised on the day going to Tallowood Special Needs School. We would also like to thank Castle Hill RSL and the organisers that are putting on this fantastic festival that just gets better each year and we look forward to many more!

From our pick up points at Penrith and Castle Hill we officially hit the road to discover the brilliant wine range and experience what the hunter region had to offer. The Road Trip kicked off with another theme being 'Burlesque and Masquarade'. What an awesome sight and what fabulous ideas for things to bring and wear for the theme! Yes yes yes we carried the theme through at our after pyjama party - but that part of the trip will remain a mystery! Once again it was an exciting trip with lots of trivia, games, prizes, give-aways, dancing, awards and making friends with such a wonderful group.
